Riverbend Caravan Park Renmark
2020 Best Grey Nomad
Large Caravan Park
It is a caravan park on the banks of the Murray River at Renmark that has so much to offer – even a permanent desert van!
Situated on a picturesque bend of the mighty Murray adjacent to the century-old Paringa lift bridge which still opens twice daily, the popular grey nomad Park is a beautiful blend of Mother Nature’s gifts in a primarily bushland setting with neighbouring wetlands and the bonus of the heritage town of Renmark on its doorstep.
The pet-friendly Park boasts 77 mostly powered sites spaciously arranged amid towering gums, along the expansive riverbank and beside grassy lawns. Features include an air-conditioned camp kitchen, amenities blocks, laundry, two undercover BBQ areas, bird aviary, communal winter fire pit, kiosk, dump point and an array of water-related activities.
And in addition to that dessert van, pet-friendly Riverbend Caravan Park Renmark has organised a nightly possum parade, shopping deliveries, riverside movie screenings, discounts at Renmark eateries and visiting food trucks.
Like California, the South Australian Riverland area around Renmark is a sun-drenched oasis. Using irrigated water from the Murray, fruit orchard and vineyards blossomed in the late 19th and early 20th century ensuring the river trade also burgeoned. Beautiful buildings, an historic riverport, fine wine and a creative community are all legacies of the era.
Renmark and surrounds favourite attractions and tours include:
River, sunset and wine cruises on a stable pontoon boat to scenic locations.
Devonshire tea onboard the PS Industry – an authentic steam powered work boat commissioned in 1911.
Lunch and maybe a taste at either the Mallee Estate Winery, Wilkadene Woolshed Brewery or 23rd Street Distillery.
Meet the Indian Runner ducks at Angove Winery that have replaced pesticides by eating the snails that make their way into the vine canopy.
The Village in historic Loxton – a heritage immersion.
Bulyong Island, Renmark’s own section of the Murray River National Park.
