ABOUT

2023 Awards Closed

2023 Awards see 14 categories, including two new ones, that recognise government, private and not-for-profit organisations that welcome mature age travellers within Australia, making their lives healthier, happier and safer.

The Awards encourage positive ageing through supporting and promoting soft adventure and social inclusion.

Typically, Grey Nomads are not interested in staying in places with all the bells and whistles - tennis courts, children’s playgrounds and swanky guest lounges are not necessary to win a Grey Nomad Award. Rather, the Awards focus on the things that mature-age, overland travellers want: well-maintained facilities, cleanliness, good value, great customer service, easy booking, thoughtful spaces and the chance to socialise and learn.

The towns and destinations that gain the appreciation of Grey Nomads recognise and plan for this group’s specific needs – things like places to park big rigs, easy access to shops and services, good-value places to stay, dog-friendly environments and services, reliable mobile reception, and accurate destination information to make planning a breeze.

Attractions, tours, festivals and programs that cater to the needs of Grey Nomads also get a big tick of approval, so the Awards have categories that these organisations can enter also.

Success in the Grey Nomad Awards will bring you more business:

  • More visitors and more spend into successful towns and regions

  • More bookings for caravan parks, clubs, farms, pubs and businesses that provide spaces and experiences so mature-aged visitors stay longer

  • More income for attractions and tour operators that target the Grey Nomad sector

  • More festival goers for regional events.

Which categories best suit you?

Recognising regional excellence, not glitz and glam.

We understand that the vast majority of caravan parks, campsites, tourism attractions, tour operators and event organisers which cater to Grey Nomads are in regional or remote Australia - and we love that! It characterizes what these Awards are all about - promoting the hard work of folks from every corner of our beautiful country in a valuable and highly credible way.

The Important Dates
Cape Spencer SA lr.jpg

The 2023 Awards close in November, giving you plenty of time after the grey nomad season finishes to answer the simple, straight-forward questions in the submission process.

There's big Early Bird savings for those who register before 29 September, and you will still have until 6 November to finish your submission.

No matter if you are a town, progress association, country pub, farmstay, brewery, museum,  tour, attraction, caravan park, showground, winery, services club, Council, community organisation, hobby farm or national park, if you provide a service, tour, attraction, trail, event or camping property that caters to mature-age travellers then there is at least one category for you.
